Wella Professionals Color Fresh Mask is a temporary, colour-depositing conditioning mask that tops up or shifts your hair colour in about 10 minutes without lightening or damaging the hair. Each 150 ml tube is one shade, and the colour fades gradually and true to tone.

How strong the result looks depends on your starting colour and porosity: the lighter the hair, the brighter the shade. On blonde or pre-lightened hair the brighter shades show clearly. On darker hair the natural shades add tone and shine rather than a visible colour change.

Blondes: Pearl Blonde and Lilac Frost cool down warmth; Golden Gloss and Caramel Glaze add warmth

Color Fresh Mask is for anyone who wants to keep a salon colour looking fresh between appointments, or try a temporary tone without committing to permanent colour. It needs no developer or mixing, so it can be used at home, and salons also use it as a quick in-salon refresh.

Choosing a shade comes down to your starting colour:

Pearl Blonde: platinum and icy blondes, to neutralize warm tones.
Lilac Frost: very light blondes who want a stronger anti-yellow effect than Pearl Blonde, with a soft lilac tint.
Golden Gloss: light blondes and balayage wanting a golden glow.
Caramel Glaze: medium blondes and brunette balayage wanting a richer, warm finish.
Chocolate Touch: dark blonde and brown hair that has lost its shine.
Cool Espresso: brunette hair, for a rich deep-brown tone.
Copper Glow: strawberry blondes, redheads, and medium brunettes wanting an auburn finish.
Rose Blaze: gives rose gold on blonde hair and rose brown on darker bases.
Red and Peach Blush: pre-lightened hair, where the colour shows brightest.

Dark, unlightened hair will see mostly shine and a subtle tint rather than a visible colour change.

Toner and gloss fade between salon visits: blonde turns brassy, brunette goes flat, red loses intensity. Color Fresh Mask fills that gap at home. It puts the tone back in the same step as a conditioning treatment, and because it only deposits and fades out gradually, it is a low-risk way to maintain a colour or try a new tone. The ten shades cover cooling, warming and bright looks, so the same routine works whether you are keeping a platinum icy or adding copper to a red.

Shampoo, then towel-dry the hair.
Put on gloves and apply the mask generously, working it evenly from mid-lengths to ends and anywhere you want colour.
Leave on for up to 10 minutes, depending on how intense you want the result.
Rinse thoroughly, then style as usual.

Use it weekly to keep the tone topped up. Do a strand test first if your hair is very light or very porous, since those areas take colour fastest.

What it does well: it deposits colour without lightening, so there is no lift and no developer, and the result fades back gradually rather than leaving a harsh line. It also conditions, leaving hair smoother and easier to comb, and ten minutes is enough for most shades.

What to keep in mind:

It only adds colour. It can't lighten hair, so bright shades like Red or Peach Blush need a pre-lightened base to show.
Results vary with porosity. Very porous, highly lightened ends can grab more colour than the roots.
The dyes can stain skin, towels and light surfaces, so gloves are needed.
It is temporary by design and needs reapplying to keep the tone.
