The Nioxin System 3 Kit is a three-step hair thickening system for color-treated hair with light thinning, bundling a Cleanser Shampoo, Scalp Therapy Conditioner, and a leave-in Scalp & Hair Treatment into one routine. System 3 sits at the earlier end of Nioxin's thinning scale for chemically-treated hair — System 4 is the equivalent kit formulated for hair further along in the thinning process.

All three products share a core of niacinamide (vitamin B3), caffeine, and Mentha Arvensis (wild mint) leaf oil, along with a shared botanical extract blend (green tea, fennel, lemon peel, sugar maple, sugar cane, bilberry). The shampoo and conditioner also include biotin.
Nioxin's own consumer testing on the System 3/4 range reports that 85% of users noticed a thickening effect and 80% noticed increased density after consistent use. That result depends on using all three products together, in sequence, at least three times a week, with visible results reported around the 30-day mark — using only one piece of the kit isn't the tested use case.
