The Split-Ender Pro 2 is a cordless, battery-powered hair trimmer built to remove split ends without cutting hair to a visibly shorter overall length, using Talavera's Surgy-Trim mechanism to trim a fixed 1/4 inch off the very tip of each section fed through it. Rather than detecting individual split or frayed strands, it uniformly trims that fixed length across whatever hair passes through the plates — a targeted upkeep step rather than a substitute for a full haircut.
It's designed for chin-length or longer hair of any texture, though frizzy or tightly curled hair generally needs to be flat-ironed first so it feeds through the plates as a smooth, thin section. Power comes from a rechargeable battery housed in the handle, charged through a bi-volt 100-240V adaptor; the unit can also run while plugged in, and it needs 3 to 4 hours of charging before first use.
A reversible directional switch lets the unit be worked comfortably from either the left or right side of the head, which matters for a device meant to be used on your own hair, and an LED window in the trimming chamber shows hair passing through the blades as you go. Because it trims a fixed length rather than identifying damage, it works best as regular maintenance between salon visits rather than a one-time fix — most guidance from the manufacturer points to running a pass every 4 to 6 weeks. It won't help hair that's damaged more than 1/4 inch up the shaft, and split ends beyond that point still need to be cut with scissors.
After each use, the hair chamber opens so trapped, trimmed hair can be brushed out with the included cleaning brush, which keeps the blades free of debris for the next session.
