Clean Beauty Anti-Frizz Shampoo is a sulfate-free cleanser for textured, wavy or frizz-prone hair. Instead of SLS, SLES or ALS, it cleans with sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, a different surfactant class that lathers without stripping hair as aggressively as classic sulfates — which is the specific sense in which Paul Mitchell calls its Clean Beauty line "sulfate-free."

Cold-pressed almond oil and hyaluronic acid are worked into the formula to add slip and moisture while the shampoo cleanses, so hair feels less stripped and easier to detangle right out of the shower. Paul Mitchell lists the formula as roughly 80% natural origin by their own ISO 16128-based measure, and it's made without parabens, gluten, phthalates or mineral oil, and is vegan and cruelty-free.

On its own, one wash won't fully tame frizz on very textured hair — it's designed as the first step in the Clean Beauty Anti-Frizz system, meant to be followed by the matching conditioner and leave-in treatment.
