Root Cover Up is a pressed mineral-powder root touch-up from Color Wow — a temporary, color-matching concealer rather than a permanent or semi-permanent dye. It's sold in individual shades (Color Wow offers eight: Platinum/Light Blonde, Blonde, Dark Blonde, Red, Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, and Black), and works by pressing pigmented mineral powder and reflective particles directly onto and around the hair at the root line, rather than spraying or brushing color across the surface.
It's applied dry, using the compact's own double-sided brush: you load the narrow end with powder, pull the hair section flat and taut against the scalp, and press — not sweep — the brush firmly into the roots, working outward from the scalp. The wider end of the brush is then used to dust away any excess for a natural, blended look. Color Wow describes the formula as free of waxes and dyes, and markets it as water-resistant enough to hold up through sweat, rain, sleeping, and swimming, only coming out with the next shampoo. One compact is said to provide roughly six months to a year of touch-ups with regular use.
Because coverage depends on getting the pigment close to your natural or colored base shade, choosing the right one of the eight available shades matters more here than it would with a liquid root spray.
