Intended for licensed hairstylists/colorists (or an experienced home colorist working confidently with developers as part of a specific color kit) who need a stronger developer for lifting and depositing permanent hair color, or for use with a lightening powder. It has no function on its own — it only works mixed into a hair color or lightener.

The reason to reach for 30 volume rather than 20 is lift: when a color service needs to lighten hair by more than a small amount, a 30-volume developer supplies the extra oxidizing strength to do that in one process, whereas 20 volume is generally limited to depositing tone or a smaller amount of lift.

Combine with the chosen permanent hair color or lightening powder, following that product's manufacturer-recommended mixing ratio and processing time (ratios commonly fall around 1:1 to 1:1.5 by volume depending on the color line, so always defer to the specific color product's instructions). Apply the mixed product evenly to hair, process for the time the color/lightener instructions specify while monitoring lift, then rinse thoroughly and follow with a pH-balanced shampoo and conditioner. Do not use this developer alone or apply it directly to the scalp without a color or lightener mixed in.

The thick cream consistency is easier to control and less prone to dripping than a thin liquid developer, which helps with precision application such as root touch-ups or sectioned work. As a higher-strength (30-volume) developer, though, it carries more potential for scalp irritation and hair damage than 10 or 20 volume if left on too long or mixed at the wrong ratio, and it must always be paired with a separate color or lightening product, so it does nothing usable by itself.
