This is an everyday sulfate-free shampoo built around sea buckthorn, a fruit oil rich in omega-7 fatty acids and vitamins C and A, along with added antioxidants. It's designed to cleanse and hydrate hair while leaving it soft and shiny, and it works across curly, straight, coarse, and fine hair types.

The formula is safe for color-treated hair as well as keratin-treated and chemically straightened hair, so it won't strip those treatments the way some clarifying shampoos can. It's vegan and cruelty-free, and it's free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and mineral oil.

If you regularly color, keratin-treat, or chemically straighten your hair and have had shampoos fade or roughen those services, this one is formulated specifically to be gentle on treated hair while still cleansing, using sea buckthorn oil as its signature ingredient rather than heavier silicone-based conditioning agents.

Massage a quarter-size amount through wet hair, focusing on the roots and scalp, then rinse. Follow with amika's Normcore conditioner for the full system.

The sulfate-free, isethionate-based cleansing system is gentle enough for color- and keratin-treated hair without the stripping some clarifying shampoos cause, and it lathers reasonably well for a sulfate-free formula. Like any gentle, sulfate-free cleanser, it's not built for heavy product buildup or oily scalps, which may need a clarifying shampoo in rotation.
