The shampoo and conditioner both use avocado oil (persea gratissima oil) as an emollient and sodium hyaluronate as a humectant to help draw and hold moisture in dry or coarse hair, while conditioning agents like cetearyl alcohol, dimethicone, and amodimethicone smooth the cuticle and ease detangling. The shampoo still relies on sodium laureth and sodium lauryl sulfate as its primary cleansers, so it cleanses more thoroughly than a sulfate-free formula would. The oil serum is a lightweight, silicone-based finishing product (isododecane, dimethicone, dimethiconol) carrying the same avocado oil and sodium hyaluronate, meant to be smoothed through damp or dry ends without rinsing.
Matrix states the system delivers up to seven times more moisture than a non-conditioning shampoo and up to 72 hours of softness when the three products are used together; all three are labeled safe for color-treated hair.
- Shampoo: apply a quarter-size amount, lather, rinse
