The Nioxin System 1 Shampoo + Conditioner Duo pairs the System 1 Cleanser Shampoo with the System 1 Scalp Therapy Conditioner, a two-step scalp and hair care routine for natural, uncolored hair that is fine and looking slightly less full. Color-treated hair is covered by Nioxin's System 3 and System 4 lines instead.

The shampoo uses a sulfate cleansing system (sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine) with peppermint oil, wild mint oil, menthol and salicylic acid to clear scalp buildup and leave the scalp feeling fresh. The conditioner is lightweight, built on cetyl and stearyl alcohols with bis-aminopropyl dimethicone, and carries the same mint complex plus niacinamide, panthenol and botanical extracts, so fine hair is conditioned without being weighed down.
