amika Blockade Heat Defense Serum is a glossy, lightweight hair serum that shields against damage from heat tools and blow-drying up to 450°F. A few drops help prevent moisture loss, calm frizz and add healthy-looking shine.

It works two ways. Before styling, pump it into damp or dry hair as a heat protectant; after styling, smooth a little through dry ends to finish the look and lock in moisture. The serum is silicone-based (cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone) for slip and shine, with amika's signature sea buckthorn oil, a rare plant source of omega-7.

amika recommends it for all hair types, especially hair that needs both heat protection and moisture. It comes in a 50 ml (1.7 fl oz) pump bottle, sold boxed.

Blockade does two jobs from one small bottle: it goes on before the dryer or iron as a heat shield rated to 450°F, and it comes back at the end as a finishing serum that seals the ends and adds shine. The silicone base gives slip and gloss straight away, so hair feels smoother before it even meets the heat.

Before heat styling: apply 1 to 3 pumps to damp or dry hair, then style.
To finish a style and lock in moisture: apply 1 to 2 pumps through dry hair, focusing on the ends.

Avoid contact with eyes.
