Matrix Food For Soft Hydrating Shampoo is a moisturizing cleanser for dry, brittle hair, infused with avocado oil and hyaluronic acid so it lifts away excess oil without stripping the moisture dry strands need.

It is the cleansing step of the Food For Soft system. Matrix reports 7x more moisture for up to 72 hours when the shampoo is used with Food For Soft Conditioner or Mask and the Multi-Use Hair Oil Serum, compared with a non-conditioning shampoo. It gives a soft, easy lather, the formula is vegan, and the 300 ml bottle is made from 100% recycled plastic (cap and label excluded).

Its cleansing base uses sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate, so it cleans thoroughly; anyone who prefers a sulfate-free wash should look elsewhere. Sold in 300 ml and 1 litre sizes.

Anyone with dry, brittle hair that feels rough or thirsty, including colour-treated hair (Matrix lists dry, brittle or colour-treated hair as the target).
