amika Hydro Rush Intense Moisture Shampoo is a silicone-free hydrating shampoo for dry, textured or coarse hair (types 2a to 4c), built on hyaluronic acid and squalane. amika recommends it especially for low-porosity hair, the kind that resists taking on water.
The cleansing base uses sodium cocoyl isethionate and cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine rather than SLS or SLES, and amika rates it safe for colour-treated hair and for keratin or Brazilian smoothing treatments. Inside the lather, hyaluronic acid and polyglutamic acid pull in and hold moisture, while squalane helps slow moisture loss. Bio-fermented coconut water, blue-green algae and amika's signature sea buckthorn oil round out the formula.
In amika's clinical testing, using the shampoo and the Hydro Rush conditioner together as a system left hair 3x more hydrated, boosted moisture for 72 hours and gave 50% less breakage. Those results are for the pair, so it works best followed by the matching conditioner.
