Joico Defy Damage Protective Shield is a leave-in treatment that protects hair from heat styling, UV exposure and environmental pollution while supporting hair bonds. Joico rates it for heat protection up to 450°F and says it makes hair 4X more resistant to breakage during heat styling.

It uses the same core ingredients as the Defy Damage wash-out products: arginine for bond strength, moringa seed oil for antioxidants, vitamins A and E, zinc and silica, and a protective lipid that acts as a first line of defence against thermal, chemical and UV damage. It also helps protect against colour fade and leaves hair soft and shiny.
