Blonde Life Violet Shampoo is a sulfate-free toning shampoo built to correct brassy, yellow undertones in blonde, lightened, silver, gray, or platinum hair between color services — it's a color-corrector, not a cleansing shampoo you'd use daily.
The violet pigment works on simple color-wheel logic: violet sits opposite yellow, so it neutralizes brassiness as it deposits temporarily on the hair and washes out gradually. That's also why frequency matters — Joico recommends using it 2 to 3 times a week rather than every wash. Used more often than that risks pushing blonde hair toward a gray or lavender cast; used less often, brass returns faster between uses.
Cleansing comes from a genuinely sulfate-free surfactant base (olefin sulfonate, taurate, and sulfosuccinate-type cleansers rather than sodium or ammonium lauryl/laureth sulfate), which is gentler on the more porous, chemically lightened hair this product is meant for. Conditioning support comes from what Joico calls a "Monoi" complex — tamanu seed oil, coconut oil, and Tahitian gardenia flower extract — plus a real hydrolyzed-keratin derivative and rosehip oil.
