Thickr Thickening Hairspray is a lightweight, alcohol-based finishing and thermal-styling spray from Rusk's Designer Collection, built to add body and firm hold to fine or thin hair without the stiff, crunchy feel of a heavier-hold spray. A film-forming acrylates copolymer creates hold while panthenol and phenyl trimethicone add softness and shine, and the formula includes UV blockers to help guard color-treated or highlighted hair from sun fade.

It works two ways: misted onto wet hair before blow-drying to help build texture and volume at the root with a brush or fingers, or misted onto dry, finished hair to set the style. It's an everyday consumer styling product rather than a professional-only formula, and is designed to be layered with other products in Rusk's Thickr line for more buildable volume.

This hairspray is made for people with fine, thin, or limp hair who want body and hold without a stiff or crunchy finish, including those with color-treated or highlighted hair thanks to its UV-blocking claim. It's a consumer styling product suited to daily use, usable at both the blow-dry and finishing stages of a style.

Unlike a finishing-only hairspray, this one is built for dual use: misted onto wet hair before blow-drying, it helps build volume and texture at the root as the hair dries, and it can then be reapplied to dry, styled hair to hold the finished look. Paired with UV blockers aimed at color-treated hair, it's addressing the two things fine or thin, color-treated hair tends to struggle with — lack of body and sun-related color fade — rather than offering hold alone.

Can be used on wet hair before styling or on dry hair to finish.

  1. Shampoo and condition, then rinse thoroughly and towel dry.
  2. For thermal styling: mist onto wet hair, then use a brush or fingers with a blow-dryer to work in texture and body at the root.
  3. For finishing: mist evenly over dry, styled hair to set and hold.

  • Pro: lightweight formula avoids the stiff, crunchy feel of stronger-hold hairsprays while still adding body.
  • Pro: UV blockers are included specifically to help protect color-treated or highlighted hair from fading in the sun.
  • Pro: works as both a wet, pre-blow-dry volumizing spray and a dry finishing spray.
  • Con: SD Alcohol 40-B is the leading ingredient, so frequent use can be drying, especially on hair that's already dry or chemically treated.
  • Con: contains several recognized fragrance allergens (citronellol, coumarin, limonene, geraniol, hexyl cinnamal, linalool), which may bother fragrance-sensitive users.
  • Con: it's an aerosol spray, so application is less targeted than a pump spray.

SD Alcohol 40-B (Alcohol Denat.), Hydrofluorocarbon 152a, Octylacrylamide/Acrylates/Butylaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Fragrance (Parfum), Phenyl Trimethicone, Panthenol, Ammonium Benzoate, Triethyl Citrate, Water (Aqua, Eau), Propylene Glycol, Dimethicone, PEG-8 Meadowfoamate, PPG-13 Dimethicone, Citronellol, Coumarin, Limonene, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool
