Hydrate Sheer is a sulfate-free shampoo from Pureology formulated for fine, dry, color-treated hair. In place of traditional sulfates like sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate, it uses isethionate-, sulfosuccinate-, and sarcosinate-based cleansing agents — a gentler class of surfactant commonly used as a sulfate substitute. This lighter cleansing base is paired with conditioning ingredients such as hydrolyzed wheat protein, sunflower seed extract, and eucalyptus leaf extract, and the shampoo is silicone-free and formulated to be vegan.
As the "Sheer" version of Pureology's Hydrate line, it's built specifically for finer hair textures that can feel weighed down by richer moisturizing shampoos, while still aiming to leave dry, color-treated hair feeling hydrated rather than stripped. Because it skips harsher sulfate surfactants, it produces a lighter lather than sulfate-based shampoos, though it still cleanses effectively when massaged through wet hair.
