Phytoplage Protective Sun Oil is a leave-in, water-resistant hair oil from Phyto formulated to protect hair fiber and color from UV exposure, salt water, and chlorine during sun-and-swim seasons — it is a hair product, not a scalp or skin sunscreen. Its primary protective ingredient is ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, a synthetic UV filter, paired with a blend of plant oils and botanical extracts.
The formula combines sunflower seed oil, apricot kernel oil, olive-oil-derived esters, and squalane with rosemary leaf, calendula flower, and willow leaf extracts, plus the antioxidant tocopherol (vitamin E). PEG-35 castor oil and PEG-8 caprylic/capric glycerides help disperse the oil and let it rinse out more easily, while sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate serve as preservatives.
Applied to dry or damp hair before and during sun exposure, and reapplied after swimming, the oil leaves a lightweight, glossy "wet look" finish that doubles as a styling effect at the beach or pool; hair should be washed to remove the product once sun exposure is over.
