Anyone getting or installing a sew-in weave — a stylist attaching wefts for a client, or an experienced at-home weave wearer — over cornrowed or braided natural hair. Not intended as a sleep or shower cap.

Sewing wefts directly into braided hair puts all the tension on the braids and scalp; this cap gives the needle and thread something else to anchor to instead, so the natural hair underneath stays protected through the weeks a sew-in is meant to last.

Fit the cap over clean, cornrowed or braided hair and adjust the band so it sits snugly at the hairline. Using a curved needle and weaving thread, stitch the cap to the perimeter braid about an inch from the hairline, then sew weft tracks to the cap itself — not to the braids underneath — in rows working from the nape upward toward the crown.

Pros:
