Hair Shake is Joico's liquid-to-powder texturizing spray: shake the can before use and a stainless-steel mixing ball inside blends a liquid base with fine mineral powder, so what comes out as a mist dries down to a matte, gripping texture rather than staying wet or sticky.
The texture comes from bentonite clay and magnesium aluminum silicate, which absorb oil and add grip, plus silica for lift and density. Rosa canina (rosehip) fruit oil and phosphatidylcholine are included to keep the formula from feeling harsh on strands despite the powder content, and a hydrolyzed-keratin derivative adds conditioning. Joico markets Hair Shake for most hair types — used for all-over volume on fine hair, or buildable grip and texture for updos on thicker hair.
Because the formula includes a mineral powder base, it's built to be layered — start light and add more for additional texture rather than applying it all at once.
