Amika Rising Star Volumizing Finishing Spray is an aerosol finishing spray formulated to lift hair at the root and hold that lift through the day, without the stiff or crunchy feel of a traditional volumizing mousse or hairspray. The lightweight, buildable formula is built around hydrolyzed soy protein, which increases the diameter of individual hair strands, along with carob seed extract and sea buckthorn fruit/seed oil for added body and conditioning. It's formulated for fine to medium hair (roughly hair types 1 through 3A) that tends to fall flat at the crown, rather than for coarse or already-voluminous hair.
Because it's a finishing spray rather than a root-lift mousse, it's applied after styling rather than before, and it carries heat protection up to 450°F so it can be used with a curling iron to set the lift at the roots.
The hold comes from film-forming polymers dissolved in alcohol rather than from oils or butters, so it dries fast and won't leave hair feeling tacky. That same alcohol base means it isn't a leave-in treatment: it's meant to be sprayed on, styled in, and left in place rather than reapplied throughout the day the way a dry texturizing spray might be.
