AG Liquid Effects is an alcohol-free styling lotion built for thick, coarse, or otherwise hard-to-control hair, using a protein and botanical-extract complex rather than a drying alcohol base to deliver hold. Hydrolyzed pea and vegetable proteins along with plant-derived keratin amino acids are included to help restore elasticity and strength, while an herbal blend of chamomile, calendula, sage, rosemary, and nettle rounds out the conditioning side of the formula.

Because it's alcohol-free, it tends to behave differently than gel- or mousse-based stylers that rely on alcohol to dry down fast — this one is worked through damp hair and then blow-dried, diffused, or left to air-dry for a wet-look finish. AG's current formulation notes list thermal protection up to 140°C/284°F, so it can be used ahead of blow-drying or diffusing without a separate heat protectant.
